“It is so rewarding to give people back their self-esteem, their youth and to make them look on the outside the way they feel on the inside.”
Working alongside Dr. Elizabeth in surgery, assisting with face-lifts and other procedures, is Surgical First Assist and Certified Surgical Technician, Carmen Waugh. Born in Tennessee, she grew up in Texas, moved to Colorado then to Atlanta in 1992. Ever since she was a child, Carmen was interested in medicine. She graduated high school in Atlanta, where she became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1995.
After high school, Carmen continued to work hard and dive in to her passion. As time went on surgery seemed to be the direction she would take. “The fact that I am very comfortable in that setting, certainly helped in my decision to pursue a surgical occupation.”
Even today, she continually strives to learn more and more about her profession through continuing education and receiving her Associate degree in Surgical First Assisting.
“I have learned so much from being here and working with Dr. Elizabeth. She has taught me the importance of giving each patient the amount of time and attention they deserve,” Carmen states.
She is thrilled to work every day at Atlanta Face & Body and is grateful for the opportunity to help patients each and every day. Carmen explains, “It is so rewarding to give people back their self-esteem, their youth and to make them look on the outside the way they feel on the inside.”
Away from Atlanta Face & Body, Carmen enjoys spending time with her son and 2 chihuahuas named Hazel & Fancy and also running a custom cake business on the side.
