“As an aesthetician and a trained teacher, I want them to learn how to take care of their skin from the inside out.”
Licensed Medical Aesthetician Tammie Smith was raised a “big-time tom boy” in Rex, Georgia. By her Sweet Sixteenth birthday, she knew exactly what she wanted to do – which led to earning first, her Master Cosmetologist License at Southern Crescent Technical Institute in Griffin, Georgia, and then in 2010, getting her aesthetician license with honors from the Georgia Career Institute in Conyers.
A gifted teacher, Tammie, after getting certified as an aesthetics instructor’s license in Charleston, South Carolina, returned to Georgia Career Institute – this time as a core aesthetics instructor in state board classes and procedures. Later, in her position at Health & Style Institute in Atlanta, Tammie was an advanced aesthetics instructor and clinical floor supervisor.
Tammie has over two decades as an experienced skin-care specialist with several certifications and expertise in medical skin therapy, including administering facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and lash/brow tinting. She also has extensive experience administering laser treatments including IPL, photofacials, hair removal, and fractional laser with the latest state-of-the-art equipment. At another medical spa in the Atlanta area, Tammie got experience working closely with a dermatologist, which she feels gave her additional skills in skin assessment.
After becoming part of the Atlanta Face & Body team, Tammie has gained a first-hand working knowledge of the breadth of experience, talent, skill and philosophy of Dr. Elizabeth. “Dr. Elizabeth is awesome! She spends so much time getting to know her patients as a person and understanding their desires and concerns.”
She says that from her first day, she has loved being part of the Atlanta Face & Body team. “The energy here is amazing … a breath of fresh air! My peers are so friendly, genuine and, like me, they are driven to serve our patients with outstanding customized service. In every aspect here, I feel the sky is the limit!”
Tammie still enjoys the benefits of her cosmetology training. “I get compliments on my hair cut and color – which I still do myself!” she laughs. Tammie and her husband Allen have four grown children (three sons who live in Georgia and one daughter in Montana), a granddaughter and a grandson. Tammie and Allen love camping with their dogs and riding motorcycles with their friends. She also enjoys traveling to Helena, Montana to visit with her daughter and family, and discovering the beauty of the West in all the seasons.
