Dermaplaning

Achieve Smoother, More Radiant Skin with Dermaplaning in Atlanta.

Your skin is exposed to multiple stressors on a daily basis. Over time, the outermost layer can begin to display a somewhat dull appearance. That’s when dermaplaning can offer a simple, yet effective treatment option to perk up your skin’s appearance in a beautiful way. Dermaplaning is a noninvasive aesthetic technique in which the dull outer layers of skin and vellus hair (aka peach fuzz) are carefully scraped away to provide a noticeably smoother complexion in a matter of minutes.

How is dermaplaning performed?

A completely noninvasive treatment, dermaplaning involves a trained technician using a special precision blade to gently scrape off the outer layers of dead skin and peach fuzz in strategic motions. This helps uncover newer, healthier skin cells just below the surface. The concept is somewhat similar to shaving, but dermaplaning is a much more precise procedure that offers the removal of far more dead skin cells and fine hair than shaving.

Am I a good candidate for dermaplaning?

When performed by a trained aesthetic professional (like the ones at Atlanta Face & Body), dermaplaning is quite a low-risk treatment. Therefore, it can be a good option for many people of varying skin types who want a smoother, more refreshed complexion. But if you are dealing with certain inflammatory skin conditions, however, dermaplaning may not be the best option for you. These conditions include:

  • Acne
  • Psoriasis
  • Rosacea
  • Eczema
  • Rashes
  • Sunburn

We’ll be sure to go over all the details at your consultation to help you determine if dermaplaning is the best aesthetic option for you.

Preguntas Frecuentes

Dermaplaning carries little risk of skin irritation when performed by a trained professional with the right tools. Some potential temporary side effects may include mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or a light tingling sensation that lasts for a day or two. In the rare instances in which these side effects occur, they’re usually mild in nature and resolve rather quickly.

Many of our patients say they notice a brighter, smoother complexion immediately after their dermaplaning treatment session. If mild irritation from the treatment occurs, it may take a few days for optimal results as the skin heals.

You can choose a series of dermaplaning treatments to maintain your smooth results, but it’s important to give your skin sometime between sessions. Dermaplaning typically removes about two to three weeks’ worth of dead skin, so it’s recommended you wait at least four weeks before your next treatment. We’ll discuss your goals and determine the course of action that works best for you at your consultation.
