A Procedure To Shape Your Earlobes The Way You’d Like
Some people can be very self-conscious over the shape of their ears, especially earlobes, if they feel they are oversized. Fortunately, earlobe reduction surgery can be an option for many people. This procedure can reduce the size of the earlobes, and even reshape them into a form that the patient feels is more attractive.
Are You A Candidate?
You may be a candidate for earlobe reduction surgery if you:
Feel your earlobes are too large or disproportional
Want a different earlobe shape
Would prefer to have earlobes attached to your cheeks rather than having pendulous earlobes
During consultation with Dr. Elizabeth, she and her staff will explain the procedure to you, review your options, and provide you with the information you need to make the right decision for you.
How The Procedure Works
Earlobe reduction is performed in our offices under local anesthesia. An incision is made and tissue removed carefully to create the new earlobe shape. Then the incision is sutured in a way so it is hidden as much as possible. If the patient wants the earlobes to be attached rather than pendulous, the incision can be made to accomplish this. The procedure takes less than an hour.
After surgery, you will have dissolvable sutures. Avoid strenuous activity that could create pressure on the ears and wearing earrings. Initial healing takes 1 to 2 weeks on the average, but continues to improve over time. However, there is no significant downtime and usually you can return to work the next day.
After surgery, results will be apparent quickly as healing progresses. Incisions will become more difficult to see as you heal, and your ears will have a shape that will give you more confidence.
