As we age, the combined effects of gravity, fluctuations in weight, and a loss of skin elasticity all contribute to loss of tone in the thighs. A thigh lift removes skin and fat to tighten the skin and improve the contour of the legs. The result can be a reduced circumference and more youthful appearance of the critical thigh area.
Medial thigh lift targets the inner thigh. A wedge of skin and fat which causes skin tightening, leading to improved leg contour. The other type, a lateral thigh lift, tightens skin on the front and outside of the leg. The incision is made at the top of the leg where excess skin is removed and then the remaining skin is pulled up. The skin is tightened on both sides of the leg. A private consultation with Dr. Elizabeth and her staff will introduce you to this procedure, which will be performed with a surgeon partner and center.
After surgery, your incisions will be dressed and bandaged and you’ll wear a compression garment to minimize swelling. You’ll see immediate positive results but it will be several weeks before you see your final results. Some visible scars will remain but they will improve with time for up to a year. Results are long lasting, especially if you avoid major weight gain. You should be able to return to your normal activity level over time.
