A Beautiful Smile: Why Injectables Can Give You the Smile You Desire

A Beautiful Smile: Why Injectables Can Give You the Smile You Desire

Why Injectables Can Give You the Smile You Desire

In 2018 alone, 7,437,378 people got Botox. This is a three percent increase from 2017 and a whopping 845 percent increase from 2000.

If you’re considering the beauty treatment to achieve the perfect smile, you’re not alone.

As each year passes we learn something new about anti-aging treatments. We learn more about how they work, what the lasting effects are, and how to improve them.

When it comes to wrinkle prevention and treatment, Botox is one of the most well-researched and reliable procedures. Especially when it comes to improving your smile.

How can you maintain beautiful skin through any age and never lose the glow of your youthful smile? Here’s everything you need to know.

Though Botox is the most well-known brand, it is important to note that there are alternatives such as Xeomin® and Dysport®.

How Do Injectables “Fix” Your Smile?

When it enters the skin, the chemical has a “freezing” effect on the nerves and muscles it comes into contact with. It blocks nerves, making it impossible for any messages from the brain to be able to reach them. This causes the muscles to cease movement, alleviating the effects of wrinkles.

But not to worry, this chemical stays where you put it. You don’t have to worry about it spreading across the entire body. Your skin will also still be as sensitive as it was before the injections, allowing you to still feel everything.

So when it comes to “fixing” your smile, most doctors will put injections in and near the problem areas around the mouth and eyes. Creases, folds and even crows feet can all be treated to bring a more youthful glow to a person’s smile.

When Should You Start Getting Injectables?

Just like a lot of beauty maintenance, being preventative and starting before wrinkles become a problem is the best decision and the best way to keep your skin looking fresh and smoothe well into your Golden Years. But like any beauty-focused medical treatment, the ethics of when is too young is an obvious first question.

Experts agree that starting as early as your mid-twenties is safe, and that to truly use Botox as a preventative treatment, starting by the age of 30 is best. This is especially true for people who want to maintain an ageless smile for decades beyond their 20s.

Since smile wrinkles are caused by the recurrence of micro-movements of facial muscles, the earlier someone starts, the more likely they will prevent the wrinkle creation process from starting. You don’t have to worry about looking “fake” or having a face that can’t form expressions (as long as you don’t overdo it and go to an ethical physician).

What You Can Expect from Your First Appointment

The majority of doctors will ask you to come in for a consultation; more times than not the consultation is free. Here, the doctor will first go over your medical history and your intentions for getting injectables. They will also assess your face and decide with you what the best procedure will be for you.

If you don’t have a fear of needles, an injectable treatment will be an easy and quick procedure. Next, your skin will be cleaned, and you may or may not have your face marked. Then you’ll receive the injections and be given something like an ice pack to help with swelling.

Getting injectables is also not like taking a walk in the park or spending a day at the beach. There will be some discomfort and pain during the procedure. The good news is that it goes pretty quickly and the anticipation is usually the worst part.

What Can You Expect After Your Treatment?

You might not see the effects instantly.  But there could be redness and swelling for a few hours after the procedure. It might be best to clear your calendar following a procedure.

Your skin could also be sensitive for a few days following the procedure, so it’s important to follow the doctor’s post-treatment plan and stay out of the sun as much as possible. Slight bruising may also occur, but it all depends on your skin’s sensitivity.

The full effects of the treatment will be noticed more dramatically in the weeks following the procedure. This is because the chemical needs time to spread and react. Overall, many patients report feelings of improved confidence and energy once they start seeing results!

Will You Still Be Able to Have a Natural Smile? YES!

People are constantly poking fun at people who get Botox or some other injectables and claiming that they look stiff or silly. There are indeed a few bad eggs out there who have a “look” that scares people away from getting Botox, but they are a few out of millions. The reality is that stars like Halle Berry and Jennifer Aniston all receive treatments too. And it’s just our opinion, but they’re aging pretty well.
