The Different Types of Facelifts Explained

The Different Types of Facelifts Explained

Wrinkles start to form as early as age 25 and only get worse and more prevalent during and after menopause. If you’re worried about looking older, don’t worry, because there are certain things you can do to make yourself look younger. In particular, facelifts are very helpful.

They involve pulling the skin on your face to a different position so that your face looks much smoother and less wrinkled than before. What you might not know, however, is that there are actually several different types of lifts. So, how can you know what lift type is right for you?

What is the difference between these different types of facelifts? Keep reading and learn more about the different types so you can choose the best one for you.

What You Need To Know About the Liquid Facelift

When you think of a face lift, you might think of the traditional kind that involves cutting away the skin on your face and lifting it with sutures attached to your hairline. While this type of lift is still done today, there are other options to consider if you don’t want to do something so invasive. Today, a popular type of lift is known as a liquid facelift.

This kind of lift is unique because it involves the use of injections rather than pulling your skin in one direction or another. This type of face lifting, as a result, is a much simpler procedure and it does not include nearly as much downtime as most other types of lifts. In fact, you’ll be able to go back to work soon after getting this procedure done.

The main side effects you might experience are some bruising or swelling in the affected areas. This lift works by injecting dermal fillers into certain areas of your face.

This is a popular area to get fillers because of how the fullness of your cheeks changes with age. Younger women tend to have full, round cheeks that are more voluminous than their lower faces. However, as a woman ages, she will naturally start to lose some of that cheek volume.

The Details

As a result, she will not look as young and her lower face will start to take on more volume due to the development of jowls or extra fat in the area. By using a liquid lift to add more volume to your cheese, you can look years younger in no time. You may also get fillers in other parts of your face such as around your jawline for more definition.

Whatever the case, this kind of lift is minimally invasive. As mentioned before, the main side effects will be some bruising and swelling around the treated areas, especially if the treated areas happen to be around the eyes. Keep in mind, however, that the results of this lift are not permanent.

Liquid lifts usually last for a maximum of one year, although their appearance may start to diminish around 6 months. Whatever the case, you can easily get another liquid lift if you find that the appearance of yours is starting to fade. But what if you’re looking to get results that are a bit longer-lasting and more defined?

The Signature ProfileLift™ Facelift

If you would like to achieve a slimmer and more youthful face, the Signature ProfileLift Facelift from Dr. Elizabeth may be the perfect option for you. But what makes this lift different from any other kind of lift, you might ask? The first thing you should know is that even though this lift does involve incisions, it is very minimally invasive.

This is because the incisions involved are very small and almost impossible to notice. Besides that, because the incisions are so small, they heal much faster compared to large incisions that traditional lifts used to utilize. This particular type of lift may also be referred to as a lower facelift because it focuses on lifting not only the lower half of the face but the neck as well.

This is important because as women get older, they start to develop jowls that can make them look much older than they actually are. Besides that, older women may also develop drooping or fatty necks which, again, can also make them look older. The Signature ProfileLift Facelift aims to fix that problem.

You don’t even have to be particularly old to be a good candidate for this procedure. Some younger women also suffer from jowls or excess fat around the neck and lower face. This can lead to the development of a lower chin which, of course, no one wants to have.

This procedure is unique because it combines several different procedures into one such as liposuction and laser technology. Liposuction functions to remove fat cells from your face in a direct fashion. This is possible by using a special tool known as a cannula.

What You Need to Know

The cannula is a thin tube that uses suction power to remove excess fat cells. Liposuction is helpful for removing large areas of excess fat around your neck and lower face. For smaller portions of fat, your surgeon will instead use radiofrequency technology.

This technology will break up the remaining fat cells in the treatment area. After a period of weeks or months, the affected fat cells will start to die off and you will see a dramatic difference in the shape of your face and neck. Your face, especially your lower face and your jawline, will look much leaner and younger than ever before.

Another benefit of this procedure is that it is quite fast compared to a traditional lift. In general, you won’t need to be in the operating room for much more than an hour. After the procedure, you will only need to deal with minimal side effects and downtime.

You may experience some bruising and swelling after the procedure, but these effects should go away on their own after a week or so.

All About the Signature PrecisionLift™

The Signature PrecisionLift is similar to the Signature ProfileLift™, but there are a few important differences. In particular, the Signature PrecisionLift focuses more on the entire face rather than just the lower face and neck. The Signature PrecisionLift also uses the same liposuction and radiofrequency technology as the Signature ProfileLift.

However, there is more of an emphasis on the use of radiofrequency technology since it is very helpful for improving the elasticity of your skin. This kind of lift is usually best for older women in their 40s or 30s. The procedure works best if you are only showing mild or moderate signs of aging.

If you are already showing more severe signs of aging, you may see better results with a different kind of lift. The procedure itself is relatively straightforward. Your surgeon will first inject a local anesthetic into the treatment area so you won’t be able to feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure, although you may feel some pressure or pulling.

Once the area is numb, your surgeon will use a liposuction cannula to remove any extra fat in your face, especially around your lower face and jaw. Doing this will reduce the appearance of jowls or other sagginess that you may have around your jaw. Using radiofrequency technology is the final part of the procedure, but it is also one of the most important parts.

This is because the radiofrequency tool can help improve the elasticity of your skin. When a woman is young, the skin of her face will naturally be very elastic. This elasticity comes from two components in the skin: collagen and elastin.

Skin Elasticity

As a woman ages, the amounts of collagen and elastin in her skin will start to decrease over the years. As a result, her skin will start to look thinner and more wrinkled than before. This will, of course, contribute to the woman’s appearance and make her look much older.

But the power of radiofrequency technology can solve this problem. This kind of radiofrequency will stimulate the skin cells in such a way that your skin will tighten and look younger as a result. Keep in mind that the entire procedure won’t take very long, usually about an hour.

There is also no downtime involved. You can go right back to work after this procedure if you need to. However, you may experience some mild side effects after this procedure.

As with the other Signature lift procedure, you may also experience some swelling and bruising with this one. Bruising is more likely if the treatment area surrounds your eyes since the eye area is very sensitive. The main thing you should avoid as you recover is any strenuous exercise.

Intense exercise could interfere with the healing process and your results. So, wait a week or two before resuming any exercise routines you may have.

The Signature Lift

If you are looking for a procedure that will really take the years off of your face, then the Signature Lift may be the perfect solution for you. It is somewhat more invasive than the previous lifts already discussed, but it is still far less invasive than a traditional facelift. Because it is more invasive, it is best for those who are already showing more severe signs of aging.

In particular, women who are between the ages of 50 and 70 may find this lift most appealing. However, some women in their 40s are starting to consider this kind of procedure as well since it does wonders for making a woman’s face look younger. This type of procedure will require some downtime, unlike the other lifts previously discussed.

For that reason, you will need to set aside some time to take off work. The procedure itself will not take very long, usually around an hour or two. However, your face will need some time to recover afterward.

Fortunately, because this procedure is not as invasive as a traditional lift, the downtime timeline won’t be as extensive or severe. As you heal, the main thing to remember is that you should take time to relax. This means that you shouldn’t do any strenuous exercise during your downtime.

What You Need to Know

You should also avoid hot environments such as saunas. This is because sweat could soak into your incisions and cause an infection which, of course, could interfere with the healing process. After the procedure, you won’t be able to admire your results right away because you will have bandages covering large portions of your face to protect the incisions.

Your face will also be quite swollen and bruised for several days and even a week after the procedure. However, once these side effects start to go away and once it’s time to take off the bandages, you’ll finally be able to admire the results of the procedure. You will notice that your skin will be smoother and tighter than ever before and that you will look noticeably younger as a result.

All About the Different Types of Facelifts

There are many different types of facelifts to choose from and some may be better for your unique aging problems than others. For example, a Signature Lift is best for those showing more severe signs of aging such as deep wrinkles and sagging skin. On the other hand, a liquid lift is better for more mild signs of aging such as loss of volume in the cheeks.
